Solidarity

THE AFFILIATION AND CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE shall seek the affiliation and maintenance of affiliation by all eligible AFL-CIO local unions, all local councils, joint boards and similar subordinate organizations in our area and make recommendations on the matter of affiliation status when such questions may arise. The Committee shall monitor the records of delegate credentials, reporting to the delegate body as requested.

THE COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMITTEE shall encourage the active participation of affiliates and their members in identifying and meeting the human service needs of this community and in the development of positive relationships with the social services agencies of the community.

THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COMMITTEE shall make recommendations on programs and policies aimed toward promoting prosperity, full employment and the best utilization of our community resources.

THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE shall promote a knowledge of the history of the labor movement and the aims of the AFL-CIO, encourage and assist the affiliates in establishing their own and joint programs and shall work to provide the community with the highest standards of education possible.

THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES COMMITTEE shall promote the best interests of public workers within the local labor movement, act as a clearinghouse for the exchange of individual information and mutual experience and engage in coordinated legislative activities at all levels of government with other appropriate AFL-CIO organizations.

THE UNION LABEL COMMITTEE shall promote a greater demand for products bearing the union label and services performed by union workers, investigate and recommend methods for the advertisement of union label products and services and educate the members of affiliates, their families and the general public of the economic and social benefit to our community in supporting "BUY AMERICAN, BUY UNION"

POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (PAC) shall encourage and promote the active participation of affiliates and their members within their legislative districts in the election process. The Committee will consist of the Legislative District Liaisons and other interested labor activists who are members of affiliated unions. The Committee will recruit labor activists for political/legislative activities, monitor local news media for political news and work cooperatively with political action contacts within local unions, central labor councils and the Washington State Labor Council in order to recruit activists for COPE activities. These activities will include phone banks, literature drops, doorbelling, rallies, etc.

SOLIDARITY DAY COMMITTEE shall promote a day of activities to bring together union members from all unions and their families. The committee will plan the days events and establish a budget to accomplish this goal.
